Stejlepladsen in the Copenhagen South Harbour is an artificial landfill from the 70’s. Right next to that is the unique neighbourhood Fiskerhavnen with a very special community, that drives the balance of diversity, composed over time, unplanned, but at the same time subject to some common framework. Most importantly, it contains qualities that must be preserved in the development of the neighbouring Stejleplads.

The masterplan supports a build structure that relates to Fiskerhavnen - in terms of scale, variety and relation to the landscape. The good sustainable and social neighbourhood is dense, but not necessarily tall. We therefore propose that the area be built with an average height of 4 floors.

The density makes it possible to keep the edge of wild nature towards the coast, leaving free space for the current residents and there activities. But there will also be space for social facilities, that both current and future residents can benefit from: A co-workshop, a maritime community- and dining house, a winter bathing house and other features that can contribute to the local ownership and unite the current and future residents.
