Ambulancestationer

The ambulance stations in Region Zealand are designed with a simple concept that creates recognition and a common identity and functionality across the seven stations. The ambulance stations are not only workplaces for rescuers and paramedics but also places with long work shifts. Therefore, there is a focus on social interaction, well-being, training, health, and rest.

The stations are organized around a distribution cross that connects the main programs: Emergency, daily activities, and rest. The distribution hub creates a clear visual connection between the three parts, which as volumes can be adapted to the context when there is a need for more stations in the region.

Emergency response takes place from the garage section, which is also the focal point of the stations. They are designed with marked parking areas, drains for meltwater, and workstations for preparing the ambulances between emergency responses.

In the daily section, the other activities are gathered: administration, training, daily briefings, physical exercise, changing rooms, social events, food preparation, and meal breaks. In connection with kitchens and dining rooms, terraces have been incorporated, making it more attractive to go outside when the weather permits.

The rest section is dedicated to the rescuers’ opportunity to rest and sleep between emergency responses. They are placed where there is the most peace and green outdoor areas. They are designed as small hotel rooms, with individual bathrooms, soundproofing, and sensory alert systems that provide a gentle but effective awakening.
