2025 JUNE 4 | In 2016, URBAN POWER won the open competition to reimagine the Jomfrusti district in Haderslev. Nine years later, we’re proud to see Phase 1 officially inaugurated. Our master plan set a bold direction for turning the city’s “backside” into a vibrant, green destination. At its heart is a landscape belt featuring a rainwater park, creating a seamless connection between the historic city center and the fjord. This area, once the moat of the long-lost Hansborg Castle, was historically prone to flooding. Today, water returns as a designed element, managed through innovative urban planning and sustainable rainwater solutions. The transformation doesn’t stop here. It’s paving the way for new opportunities: housing, a cinema, and future developments on surrounding plots—all made possible by a strong master plan and unwavering commitment from Haderslev Municipality and Provas Utility Services.
