The masterplan is organized around the concept of “The New Village,” consisting of small, intimate housing clusters or “courtyards”. Each cluster typically contains 10 to 20 units—a scale carefully chosen to foster strong neighborly bonds and a genuine sense of belonging. These courtyards offer a diverse mix of townhouses and apartments, catering to various life stages. By strategically placing parking and vehicular access at the periphery, the heart of the district remains entirely car-free, ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for social interaction and play.
Identity-wise, the district connects to the history of Vridsløselille through a preserved woodland area that serves as a vital green link. Central to the neighborhood’s social life is Hyldagerhallen, an existing sports hall transformed into a vibrant hub with an adjacent cafe and active urban spaces.
The landscape design integrates blue and green infrastructure. A central green corridor serves as both a biodiversity corridor and a rainwater management system, culminating in a scenic village pond. By preserving characterful circular tree structures and creating “forest houses” nestled within existing groves, the Hyldager district seamlessly weaves residential life with the surrounding nature.
