Grænselandets have

The “Lyre” area, located at the Danish border with Germany, is a place rich in nature, history and culture that has many qualities to offer to both residents and tourists. With its proximity to the German city of Flensborg, the beautiful ice-age landscape, hiking and cycling trails such as Hærvejen and Gendarmstien and a wide range of everyday functions, the area has a great potential to be further developed into a unique and attractive environment.

Located at the edge of the landscape valley in the town of Padborg, Grænselandets Have becomes the hub for residents and tourists, blending local cultural activities with stunning landscape views and highlighting the area’s rich historical traces. The park surrounds the local library and the Told & Grænse Museum, and is connected to the rest of the town through the Torvecenter shopping area and further to the train station.

At the park’s entrance, an information point marks the start of Hærvejen, explaining the history of this ancient route. After passing the historic Oldemorstoft building, where the museum is located, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the landscape and visit a large memorial made of 141 poles, symbolizing the border guards deported during WWII. This area also marks the access to the open landscape where Hærvejen and Gendarmstien routes unfold.
Towards the north of the park, the sloping terrain offers a gathering spot with impressive views of the ice-age landscape and the apple orchard where local apple varieties are cultivated. A path along the slope leads to the library, passing through a play area where local families can gather and enjoy the many natural and social qualities that the park has to offer.
