URBAN POWER developed the vision and urban plan for Furesø Municipality, exploring how a major infrastructure project can become a catalyst for reconnecting the town. The proposal covers 440 metres of the Hillerød motorway and integrates a future extension of the S-train towards Hillerød with a new Farum Station next to Farum Bytorv. Above the motorway, a new urban landscape creates a station square, bus terminal, green public spaces and new connections for pedestrians and cyclists. New housing and mixed-use development extend the existing urban fabric across the motorway. Four development areas respond to different local conditions, combining urban density with Farum’s smaller scale and close relationship to nature. Together, the interventions transform the motorway from a dividing barrier into a new centre connecting Farum across infrastructure.
